IBU has announced the athlete was tested out-of-competition on December 19 in Obertilliach in Austria. The laboratory report (from the laboratory in Seibersdorf) of the urine sample showed the presence of recombinant erythropoietin (EPO). Recombinant erythropoietin belongs to group S2: Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors and Related substances/erythropoietin (EPO) of the WADA Prohibited List. 6th case In the Anti-Doping Database we have registered five cases where an athlete has tested positive for EPO. All five cases ended with a two year suspension. We have registered 14 cases related to Biathlon. Russia has the most cases with nine athlete being suspended. Nandrolone is the second most used substance in biathlon. We have registered five cases where the steroid has been used. Two EPO-cases in Lithuania We have also registered two athletes from Lithuania who has tested positive for the prohibited substance. Totally 22 athletes from Lithuania has been registered in the Anti-Doping Database. Athletics is the sport with the most cases with 11 sanctioned athletes. Six Lithuanian cyclists has also been sanctioned for testing positive for a prohibited substance. The athlete is not registered in The Anti-Doping Database as he has not been sanctioned yet.
