The World Anti-Doping Agency science director, Olivier Rabin, has told AFP that WADA will assess variations in the endogenous profile of athletes, that is substances produced by the body.
However, he also makes it clear that the existing tests will remain applicable.
“So we have decided to launch a research project to see if we can reproduce this phenomenon," AFP quoted Rabin as saying.
However, according to AFP report, the researchers at the WADA-accredited laboratory at Ghent in Belgium have already noticed the profile modification. Results of the research are likely to be declared in September.
"But for the moment it's hypothetical. We need to be able to understand the phenomenon to be able to define it," Rabin told AFP.
