More athletes used clostebol in 2016 than before


Ten athletes tested positive for Clostebol in 2016. That is three times as many as in 2015, and nearly twice as many as in 2013 when six athletes was banned for using the steroid.

 

In total the Anti-Doping Database has registered 37 athletes who has been banned for using the prohibited substance.

Most athletes are suspended for one year or more.

Cycling and Italy

Italy is the country with the most anti-doping rule violations involving this substance. Not surprisingly as the country is one of few who sell medicines containing this substance. 13 athletes from Italy has been suspended for clostebol.

Nine cyclists are among the 37 athletes. Five of the athletes had their sample collected out of competition.
