Three brazilian athletics athletes suspended


The Brazilian Athletics Confederation (CBAt) has suspended three athletes for doping rule violations.

 

The sprinter Vanda Ferreira Gomes has been suspended for two years after testing positive for Anastrozole. The sample was collected out-of-competition. The suspension started on December 5, 2014 and the athlete will there for not be able to compete at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016. We have registered 14 cases involving Anastrozole in the Anti-Doping Database. The federation also suspended Francisco Ivan da Silva Filho for one year. The sample was collected on October 12 during the Volta das Nações. The analysis showed presence of the anabolic steroid Stanozolol. The suspension started November 12, 2014. We have 714 cases where an athlete has tested positive for Stanozolol. In 2013 alone there were 143 cases involving this substance. It is the record number of cases we have registered related to this substance. India is the country with the most athletes who has tested positive for Stanozolol. 180 Indian athletes has been banned because of this substance. That is 136 more cases than the Dominican Republic which has the second most cases. Most of the suspended athletes from the Dominican Republic are baseball players. Silvano Lima Pinto was also suspended for two years after refusing to take part in a doping control on August 24 during the Corrida da Saúde. The suspension started October 8, 2014. 284 athletes has been suspended for refusing to take part in a doping control. Sweden has the most cases due to a large number of recreational athletes who has refused to be tested in gyms.
