SportAccord launches Doping Free Sport Program

SportAccord will bring its expertise to support its Members in becoming compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code.

Launched in the summer of 2009, this service is being developed in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is supervised by an Advisory Board composed of representatives of SportAccord, WADA and the IOC. It is driven by a strategic plan and annual operational business plans, covering a five-year period. The project is led by Mrs. Françoise DAGOURET, Manager, assisted by Ms Anne SOULIE.

Members to be compliant with the Code

As a first step SportAccord brings its expertise to support its Members in becoming compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code. The aim is to evaluate Members’ needs and build a direct relationship with them.

Current services include providing assistance and advice on:

  • the development of Code-compliant anti-doping rules and regulations
  • the development of doping-free sport strategy planning
  • the implementation of doping-free sport programmes and subsequent daily anti-doping activities

These developments take into account the specificity of each sport, in terms of organisation, evaluation of doping risks and anti-doping resources available.

Continuing development

Working closely with the WADA Department of Relations with International Federations, SportAccord contributes to the development of management and assistance tools in order to facilitate the work of the Members and to increase their efficiency for managing their anti-doping programme, with:

  • the development of a Code Compliance Management Tool
  • the development of a centralised service questions on the online WADA Anti-Doping Management System.

SportAccord acts as a central point for Members, in order to create and contribute to synergies between them. SportAccord facilitates regular informal lunchtime meetings for IFs anti-doping staff, in the MSI or within area, where they can share their experiences and daily issues.
