Spanish police arrests seven in doping raid


Police in Catalonia arrested seven amateur cyclists after investigating an alleged doping ring based in the city of Girona. The investigation started after police was tipped off by a professional cyclist.

 

According to Cyclingnews the professional cyclist is the Movistar rider Xavier Tondo. He forwarded an forwarded email offering illegal products to the police. The Spanish newspaper El Pais reports that Tondo received an aemail in December last year (2010) where he was offered several doping products including EPO and human growth hormone. The rider forwarded the email to the local police.
