IOC sanctions three athletes for failing anti-doping test at London 2012


The International Olympic Committee has sanctioned three athletes for violating the anti-doping rules during the Olympic Summer Games in London 2012.

 

The athletes are: Vera Ganeeva, Russian Federation, women’s discus throw (rank 23), dehydrochloromethyltestosterone (turinabol). Adem Kilicci, Turkey, men’s 69-75 kg boxing event (ranked 5th), dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol). Antonina Krivoshapka, of the Russian Federation, women’s 400m event (ranked 6th), and in the women’s 4x400m relay event (ranked 2nd - silver medalist), dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol).

  • Number of samples selected for reanalysis (ongoing process / samples stored for 8 years): 492
  • Number of sanctions issued as of 1 February 2017: 40
The reanalysis included samples from athletes from 89 NOCs and from 16 sports.
