IOC sanctions Sochi particpants for doping


IOC officially disqualifies Austrian cross-country skier Johannes Dürr and Polish bobsleigh athlete Daniel Zalewski.

 

IOC sanctions Austrian cross-country skier Johannes Dürr for failing anti-doping test at Sochi 2014 The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on April 9 that Johannes Dürr of Austria has been excluded from the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The 27 year old cross-country skier tested positive on 22 February for the banned substance recombinant erythropoietin (EPO). IOC has disqualified the skier from the Men’s 15km + 15km Skiathlon event where he placed 8th. Zalewski, the 22 year old bobsleigh athlete tested positive on 22 February for the banned substance N-ethyl-1-phenylbutan-2-amine. Zalewski was disqualified from the four-man bobsleigh event, where he placed 27th.
