EHF creates Anti-Doping Unit


The second day of 11th EHF Congress in Monaco the EHF voted to create a new EHF Anti-doping Unit (EAU).

 

In accordance with the rules of the main international bodies fighting against the doping in the sport the EHF Congress has adopted a motion to create a new EHF Anti-doping Unit (EAU). The motion received 47 votes (94 percent) and will be effective as of 1 July 2012. It will be handling the field of anti-doping within the EHF in the spirit of the Olympic Movement and working closely together with the World Anti-doping Agency and the International Handball Federation. The professional body consisting of a chairperson and office staff member nominated by the EHF Executive Committee will be responsible for the arrangement and carrying out of controls, the creation of awareness for non-intentional doping, the education and information process for young athletes, the coordination with national anti-doping agencies in Europe, the handling of therapeutic exemptions and more anti-doping measures.
