How The Anti-Doping Database Helped NRK To Show Olympic Athletes with Doping Past

In 2024 The Norwegian Public Broadcaster NRK approached The Anti-Doping Database to help finding out which of the athletes ready for the Olympic Games in Paris had a doping past. This was the first time someone approached us to do their research.

In order to help out NRK we reached out to the International Olympic Committee to get a list of participants. We did this since NRK was an accreditated media host of the Olympic Games for Norway.

Based on the list we could use our Bulk Search function to search the database for athletes who had been sanctioned for an anti-doping rule violation.

The result was more than 100 athletes.

The national broadcaster used the result of our search to create an article on the result. In this article they interviewed former board member of the Norwegian anti-doping agency (Antidoping Norway) and Olympic Champion Vebjørn Rodal, former pro cyclist Mads Kaggestad and us.

The article also showed a map where the countries with the most doping cases where highlighted.
